Tenure!
Well it is finally here! I received official notification over the weekend of the University granting me tenure and promotion to Associate Professor. Woohoo! After the process, portfolio, reviews, and knowing that other folks did not make it (the letters went out a while ago for folks that for whatever reason did not get approved this year), I feel as if the news are a bit anticlimactic, but also very welcome. The welcome lies in the realization that tenure is now one less thing to burden me... something I can leave behind and not have hanging over my head, a sort of full entrance into the fold as it were. Contrary to what many folks believe, my life will not get any easier in terms of my scholarly productivity or obligations. On the other hand, it feels right and good, and I look forward to continuing my work with even more motivation and excitement as part of this community of scholars.

Congrats Nacho!!!!
I think there needs to be some kind of big celebration of professors who receive tenure because it is such a big deal and means a lot to the community. It must have been my amazing recommendation that sealed the deal! hah just kidding. Congrats once again.

Wahoo! Virtual confetti, streamers, and balloons going up in Portland! It is a big deal in the brain, which is where most of the worst things in our life that never happen do have a powerful affect on us. Be at ease, now, and be very glad. You can get on with the rest of it now. Whew. Sorry I was offline a few days and missed the big announcement, but I'm glad I checked in for it today. It make my Sunday sunnier. Soon we gotta have that long-delayed cuppa.

Hey folks, thank you all very much for the congrats and the good wishes. Getting tenure certainly has not meant slowing down, and I've already heard from colleagues about what I need to do to make sure I make full Prof! Lots of advice coming my way. : ) It does feel good, and above all it does feel like a burden lifted.
Kendall, so good to see you, and hear about you. I need to catch up with you and go visit you indeed. So glad to hear that your move was a good one. I read your post and found it super cool. I read it to Michelle also. : ) I'll be in touch soon.
Thanks Lucas! Good to see you come by!
Thanks Danny, long time no talk, and James!
Thanks all!

Hi, Nacho,
Congratulations! What good news. And how nice Woodmoor Village is looking these days. I don't visit as much as I should.
All best wishes,
Will
