Japanese Maple Photograph Wins!
Well, I got lucky and my Japanese Maple shot won 1st place (well, got voted the winner of the challenge) at the
Nikonians D40/D50 October Photo Challenge (Fall Colors). I include a small image here, make sure to click the shot for window with a larger version of the image. I have to give some props to Nikonians. Check them out, especially if you are a Nikon lover, or user.
The Japanese Garden in Portland is a gorgeous place. If you are a photographer and using a tripod you have to pay a tripod fee. You also have to follow all sorts of guidelines regarding photography on site, the disposition of the images, etc. The photographer membership might be worth it if one spends enough time taking shots over there. In any case, if you are ever in Portland, check it out.
I took the shot this past October at the Japanese Garden in Portland, OR. Beautiful place indeed, and great Fall colors. The shot was taken amid a bunch of other photographers that looked to be posing with their photographic gear instead of taking shots. I'm sorry to sound arrogant, but that was indeed the case. Plenty of photographers with their fancy vests, their photographic brands proudly displayed, huge lenses, tall tripods, etc. -- just roaming around looking serious. I pulled "it" "out" and I could just see their smirks... what, a Nikon D40... !
*Smile* Well, I'm glad they were having fun. I had fun as well taking lots of crappy shots. This one just came up nice. Enjoy.
EXIF: Nikon D40, ISO 200, f/13.0, 1/13, 18mm, tripod-mounted, no flash (post-processing done in Photoshop CS3)
